Chris White was working as a New Home Construction Manager when he was diagnosed at age 36 with Anorectal Mucosal Melanoma in 2018. After an initial misdiagnosis, a biopsy confirmed his cancer. His local oncologist referred Chris to MD Anderson for treatment. He learned that this rare and aggressive cancer was unusual in someone of his age. Chris endured multiple surgeries and rounds of radiation and immunotherapies but the cancer continued to spread. This caused major complications that were debilitating but Chris was determined to fight and win. When it appeared that treatment options were exhausted, Chris’s oncology team told him about a Phase 2 Clinical Trial for TIL therapy. With great effort, Chris endured difficult preparations and received his therapy in January 2020. His tumors rapidly decreased and were completely gone in one year. Chris credits his Mother Kathy for her strength and determination to support him through the journey. Today, Chris enjoys being an uncle to eight nieces and nephews. Chris has hung up his hardhat in the construction industry and is dedicated to telling his story and providing hope.
