I'd very much like to raise awareness. I'd very much like to continue Nicola's enthusiasm and creativity and positiveness and sense of humor in helping people fight this disease, which very little is known about finding resources and just support, basically, I think, for people around who have this horrible disease.

When I was diagnosed with Mucosal Melanoma in 2015, all I knew was that this was a rare and aggressive cancer with a dismal prognosis. One day I stumbled onto a link through social media that led me to a small group of Mucosal Melanoma patients and caregivers. I connected with them and soon found the support and understanding that I desperately needed. Over the years, this community has grown into an international family that shares their journeys along with treatment experiences and resources. As a survivor, my passion and purpose is to connect newly diagnosed patients and caregivers with a source of HOPE for their journey. The Mucosal Melanoma Warriors on Facebook and the MMW Foundation eagerly welcome you to join our community.

After 30 years in clinical research in the pharmaceutical industry, being on the other side of the informed consent form as a patient was truly eye-opening. It was confusing and overwhelming to me trying to navigate treatment options and clinical trials for this rare and understudied cancer, I could only imagine how much more difficult it was for those without clinical or medical experience. I am truly honored and humbled to be part of the development of the Mucosal Melanoma Warrior site as a way to raise awareness and bring hope to the Mucosal Melanoma community.
